Welcome

Hello and welcome to our website. If you are looking to learn traditional Japanese Karate and Okinawan Kobudo then our group is what you are looking for. Please take some time to explore our site. Should you have any question please send us an Email. New students are always welcome with serious experianced students considered .

Pee Wee's ages 4-7

At this age we work on balance, co-ordination, discipline and the very basic levels of karate. These areas are mainly focused on simple blocks, punches, kick and kata. Our Pee Wee's do some very light and simple kumite (fighting) under strict supervision.

Pee Wees have their own belt ciriculum with more belts and stripes to keep them motivated while they are plearning and progressing.

Juniors ages 8-12

We teach a mixture of self-defence, kata and sports karate to our students who have begun to understand the basics of karate. The emphasis is on  exercise and self-control. Our students learn balance, co-ordination, self-respect, confidence, discipline and how to avoid confrontation before it becomes physical. However if necessary, they learn how to control an attacker using kicks, punches, strikes and techniques of restraint.

We also focus on Sports karate making training fun. Our Junior's have regular tests between actual belt gradings with stripes presented when they make progress which helps keep them motivated.

Teens and Adults

The focus is the same as for children but on a more realistic scale. Our students study self-defence, body movement, kata and kumite (fighting). We aim to teach and develop self-esteem, confidence and discipline.

The training is challenging both physically and mentally, and best of all it's extremely interesting and rewarding.

Seniors can also learn the art of Kobudo (Okinawan weapons), which compliments Karate and is of great benefit for understanding the ancient ways and history of the martial arts.

Why Seiko-Kai Karate

We are one of the few Karate organisations in Brisbane that has their own full time Karate Centre. This provides a great atmosphere for training and gaining friendships with others. We pride ourselves on being a family focused Centre and this is reflected with many of our students having other family members involved.

Because while our instructors are Australian and understand the "Aussie" way of life, we still follow and maintain close ties with Karate's Japanese / Okinawan heritage. Our group teaches primarily techniques based on self-defence, but also the sporting aspect. We also pride ourselves on being a family orientated group. Our Clubs have multiple family members training in our dojo, which allows them to share the enjoyment karate offers.

We are also members of the Australian Karate Federation Inc. (AKF) and Queensland Karate Association Inc (QKA) providing you with avenues for competition at both local, state, national and international level.
