Colin commenced his study of martial arts in 1983. He has visited Japan 7 times and is still actively training and learning Karate.
During his tournament career he gained many places, with the following results being his most memorable on a local level.

On an international level Colin competed in Japan on two occasions. He was succesful both times

1999 he gained a top 8 finish in kumite during the 32nd All Japan Itosu-Kai Championships in Tokyo, Japan. | |

2002 at the 35th All Japan Itosu-Kai
Tournament in Tokyo, he placed 5th in Kata and made the top 16 in Kumite |
He
has now finally retired from competition. He is now concentrating on Referee and Coaching
duties helping both the QKA
and Seiko-Kai grow. His
love for karate continues and his sons are now also following in his
footsteps, which gives him great satisfaction.
Colin also holds a current First Aid Certificate, is a Level 1 NCAS Karate Coach and has a Blue Card Permit from the Commissioner for Children and Young People.
He is currently the Secretary of the QKA, a State Judge in Kata and State Referee in Kumite with the QKA/AKF, a member of the QKA coaching team and a member of the QKA Technical Commitee.
To gain a more in depth
understanding of Japanese and Okinawan martial arts, Colin has actively
practiced
Kobudo under the Head of Matayoshi Kobudo in Australia Sensei Arthur
Moulas since 1997 and was graded to 3rd Dan in 2006.
He continues to practice Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchuku, Tinbe & Eku with the aim of spreading Matayoshi Kobudo onto the younger generation. This also provides extra opportunites for his students to learn traditional Okinawan Kobudo as there are no many people in the Brisbane area who can offer this to their students

Mr Ron Matthews is the Head Instructor for NSW and the Co-Founder of Seiko-Kai in Australia. He holds aSt Johns First Aid certificate and is a Bronze level Karate Coach under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme via the AKF Inc.
Ron has studied the martial arts since 1966 as follows

Ron has studied Shitoryu Karate since 1987 and has been to Japan many times to train with some of the worlds best Shito-ryu Karate Instructors. He feels that he can pass on his karate knowledge to his students and they can also enjoy the benefit of what karate can offer.
Ron has also competed successfully in State, National and International Karate Tournamnets and while his preference is teaching traditional self defence, he continues to learn more about "Sport Karate" forthose who are keen to enter competitions.

Sharynn started training in 1996. Since then she has been constantly involved in the progress and development of her husband's (Colin) desire to build a strong organization and create an avenue for her sons to learn karate as they grow up. In this time she has given birth to 3 sons yet always keeps involved behind the scenes.
Sharynn received her 2nd Dan in 2006 from Suzuki Soke and feels that all those years of hard work have paid off. Her goal now to to build the kids class at the Australian Hombu and support Colin Sensei expand Seiko-Kai in Australia
